Regional leaders from across the Coventry and Warwickshire tourism, hospitality and leisure sectors have been appointed to help lead a trio of new associations supporting the area’s visitor economy.
Destination management organisation Destination Coventry has launched the associations under the leisure brand Visit Coventry and business tourism vehicle Coventry & Warwickshire Convention Bureau to support businesses across the sector.
Among the new groups is the Coventry & Warwickshire MICE Venues Association, which has been established to support venue sales, marketing and business development professionals across the region.
Lowri Croydon has been appointed as Vice Chair of the association. Lowri brings more than a decade of experience in the events industry, including nine years at NAEC Stoneleigh, where she leads commercial strategy and business development. Her appointment is set to support the association’s aims of encouraging collaboration, sharing industry insight and driving growth across the regional meetings and events sector.
The wider programme also includes the Coventry & Warwickshire General Managers Hotel & Accommodation Association, which brings together hotel and accommodation leaders from across the region to share best practice, discuss challenges and support collaborative working to strengthen business performance, alongside Coventry Product and Promotion.
Paul McMahon, managing director of Destination Coventry, said: “Strengthening collaboration is crucial to accelerating growth across our visitor economy and these associations are at the heart of the strategy.
“They will support businesses to work more closely together, share insight and develop a more joined-up offer for Coventry and Warwickshire.
“The group bring strong experience from across the sector and will play an important role in supporting the development of these groups.”
